The lower house of Japan's parliament has passed a resolution important to Ukraine amid escalating tensions between Russia and Western countries. Russia has amassed about 100,000 troops on the Ukrainian border, and before that, in 2014, it occupied Ukrainian Crimea. The resolution underlined Japan's position on consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state.

Kyodo News writes about it.

The resolution of the House of Representatives emphasizes that Japan is "gravely concerned and always with the Ukrainian people who hope for the stability of their country and the region." The resolution calls on the countries concerned to restore stability around Ukraine as soon as possible through diplomacy, saying that "any change in the status quo by force is unacceptable".

The lower chamber "strongly urges the government to utilize all diplomatic resources to do the utmost to reduce tensions in Ukraine and bring peace as soon as possible".

It is also noted that Japan supports and cooperates with the international community, including other G7 member countries, to promote democracy in Ukraine and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
