The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announces a new summit of the Crimean Platform

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has announced a new summit of the Crimean Platform. According to the Minister, the summit is scheduled for August 2022 and will be attended by parliamentary delegations from different countries.

He stated this at a briefing following a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on February 7.

"Crimea was also on our agenda today. I informed Annalena that the parliamentary summit of the Crimean Platform would be held in Ukraine in August. We will wait for the relevant delegation from Germany", - Kuleba explained.

What is known

  • On August 23, 2021, the first inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform was held in Kyiv with the participation of 46 foreign states and international organizations. Representatives of the member states of the Crimean Platform signed a joint declaration, according to which the members of the platform do not recognize occupied Crimea as Russian.
  • Following the summit, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Switzerland set up the Partnership Fund "Resilient Ukraine" to counter Russia's influence in Ukraine.
  • The Crimean Platform Office was opened in Kyiv based on the President's Office in Crimea. It provides consulting, expert, and informational support to this initiative.
  • President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the offices of the Crimean Platform would work not only in Ukraine but also in other countries.
