The foreign ministers of 27 EU member states, together with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, met to discuss the situation with the collection of Russian troops on Ukrainian borders. There are several decisions that the European Union can take as early as February 21, in particular, to impose some sanctions.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated it in Brussels.

"We are waiting for a solution. There are many decisions that the EU can make today and send clear signals to Russia that its escalation will not be tolerated, and Ukraine will not be left alone with the aggressor state. This includes not only political signals but also very concrete actions. Support for Ukraine's defense and security sector, support for Ukraine's cybersecurity, and the imposition of some sanctions now. And I will convey this signal to our European colleagues. We are convinced that there are sufficient and legitimate grounds to impose at least some sanctions now to show that the EU is not only talking about sanctions but also ready for concrete action", - he said.

According to Kuleba, Russia is trying to increase the tension by hybrid methods. In their turn, Ukraine and the United States will closely coordinate their positions.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken informed the Minister of the initiative to hold a summit of US and Russian presidents.

“We seek to avoid war, which is a normal human desire, and we hope that the two presidents will leave the room with an agreement to withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine. This will be a clear indicator of Russia’s readiness to de-escalate. If this does not happen, it will mean that Russia will maintain the logic of escalation", - he said.
