A rally in support of Crimean political prisoners is being held near the Russian Embassy on Povitroflotsky Avenue in Kyiv on February 21. Eleven broken doors were placed in front of the embassy as a symbol of the broken lives of citizen journalists. The action in support of political prisoners will take place during the Week of Resistance to the Occupation of Crimea and will continue in Warsaw and Berlin.

This was announced on the event's Facebook page, which was initiated as part of the international project "Crimea, 5 a.m.".

It is noted that since the beginning of the occupation of the peninsula, more than 100 activists, especially Crimean Tatars, have been persecuted by the Russian occupiers for their civic position.

"Many of them are already serving sentences of 10 to 20 years for alleged "terrorist" activities, but in fact, it is for loving their homeland and not being afraid of telling the truth. Russian special services come to them in the morning, around five am. When people are especially vulnerable, and no one comes to the rescue. They do not knock on the door - they break it. How they break the lives of families who are left without a father and husband for many years", - the statement reads.

Frontman of the band "Antibody" Taras Topol, soloists of Dakh Daughters Natalia Galanevich and Anna Nikitina, chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, and others attended the action.
