The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has protested against the unjustified detention in the temporarily occupied Crimea of ​​the Kurultay delegate of the Crimean Tatar people, member of the Kurultay Audit Commission Edem Dudakov.

This was reported by the press service of the department.

"We regard the actions of the Russian occupation administration as a reaction to Edem Dudakov's public exposure of activities aimed at destroying the Khan's Palace in Bakhchisarai, which is part of Ukraine's cultural heritage", - was informed in the statement.

The Foreign Ministry also stressed the inadmissibility of unlawfully restricting Dudakov's freedom, depriving him of his right to defense due to the inadmissibility of lawyers, violation of the right to privacy and respect for private life.

"Russia must ensure full compliance with its obligations as an occupying power in accordance with international law, as well as comply with all UN GA resolutions on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the human rights situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol", - was informed in the statement.

The Foreign Ministry called on Russia to stop harassment and political persecution of residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea, to immediately release Dudakov and all Ukrainian citizens who are illegally detained for political reasons.
