The Government of Ukraine has approved an action plan for the current year dedicated to the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an action plan for 2022 for the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, developed by the MCIP.

The People’s Deputy Oleksii Honcharenko published the corresponding order of the Cabinet of Ministers on the Telegram channel.

It is planned to hold:

  • rallies and meetings with the participation of executive authorities, local governments, activists, political parties;
  • meetings with representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and internally displaced persons;
  • the ceremony of raising the Crimean Tatar flag near the Kyiv City State Administration;
  • presentations of the Virtual Museum of Russian Aggression, prepared by the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory;
  • exhibitions and expositions of Crimean paintings.

The order also emphasizes that the regional state administration and the Kyiv City State Administration should hold ceremonies of raising the Crimean Tatar flag along with the State Flag of Ukraine in regional centres and other settlements with the National Anthem of Ukraine and the Anthem of the Crimean Tatar people.

It is also planned to create a section on the official websites of central and local executive bodies, which will contain information materials on the procedures for providing administrative and other services to citizens of Ukraine living in the temporarily occupied territories.

The increase in information attacks and manipulations of the aggressor country affects all citizens of Ukraine, without exception.

This can be especially difficult for residents of temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol.

The main goal of the Day of Resistance is to honour the courage and heroism of these people in defending the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We continue to fight for justice together, "Oleksandr Tkachenko, Ukraine's Minister of Culture and Information Policy, wrote on his Telegram channel.

What is known

  • The Day of Crimean Resistance to the Russian Occupation of Crimea is commemorated on February 26. It was on this day in 2014 that a rally of thousands of pro-Ukrainian forces took place outside the Crimean parliament.
  • On February 26, 2021, the state flag of Ukraine and the flag of the Crimean Tatar people were solemnly raised in Kherson near the building of the Regional State Administration and the regional council on the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
  • On the same day, on the administrative border with Crimea, the Day of Resistance to the Occupation was marked by a car rally and the raising of flags.
