The streaming platform of films and series Netflix has acquired the right to an online screening of Oleg Sentsov's film "Rhino".

The director announced this on Facebook.

"Netflix has acquired the rights to stream Rhino online", - he wrote.

"Rhino" became one of the few Ukrainian films included in the streaming collection. The film was also purchased for showing in the UK, France, Italy and other countries. Sentsov's television premiere is scheduled for the German-French TV channel ZDF/ARTE.

What is known

  • The film premiered on September 9, 2021, in the Orizzonti competition program of the 78th Venice Film Festival. The Ukrainian premiere of the film in cinemas is scheduled for February 17, 2022.
  • The plot of the film is based on the events that took place in Ukraine in the 1990s. Rhino is the nickname of the protagonist. He gets into the criminal world and begins his bloody path, which will end not the way he wanted.
  • Oleg Sentsov's "Rhino" won the Stockholm International Film Festival.
  • The film is a co-production of Ukraine, Poland, and Germany with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the EURIMAGES Foundation, the Polish Film Institute, the German film fund Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The Ukrainian production team is represented by producers Denis Ivanov (Arthouse Traffic) and Oleg Sentsov (Kray Kinema).
  • The film by the Ukrainian director from Crimea Oleg Sentsov, "Rhino", received financial support from the EURIMAGES fund of 270 thousand euros.
  • After his release from a Russian prison, Sentsov said he intended to make a film per year.
