Advisers to the presidents of the United States and Turkey discussed Russia's aggression against Ukraine

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Turkish Presidential Adviser Ibrahim Kalin discussed their commitments on Tuesday to "contain further Russian aggression against Ukraine".

This was announced at the White House.

"They underlined their joint commitment both to the continuation of diplomacy and to joint efforts to curb further Russian aggression against Ukraine," said National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn.

What is known

  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Ukraine this week.
  • On January 12 this year, Turkey called the principled position of non-recognition of the country's illegal occupation of Crimea.
