At the 13th meeting of Radio Svoboda freelancer Vladislav Yesipenko in the occupied Crimea, the court said that the so-called Military Investigative Committee of the Russian Black Sea Fleet had refused to open a criminal case over the journalist's torture.

All three of Yesypenko's defenders were present in the courtroom - lawyers Dmytro Dinze, Taras Omelchenko and public defender Metropolitan Pavlo Kushch.

According to "Judge" Berberov, at the request of the "court" from the Military Investigative Committee received a decision of January 12, 2022 to refuse to initiate a criminal case, however, according to the defense, the decision dated this number was previously revoked.

What is known

  • On December 13, 2021, at the request of the "prosecutor", the occupation court in Crimea extended for three months, until March 18, the detention of journalist Vladyslav Yesypenko, accused of making explosives.
  • Russia's occupying FSS has detained alleged Ukrainian "spy" Vladislav Yesipenko in Crimea. He turned out to be a journalist for Radio Svoboda. He is accused of Part 1. Art. 223-1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal manufacture, processing or repair of firearms, its main parts (except for firearms of limited damage), as well as illegal manufacture of ammunition).
  • In August last year, Vladislav Yesipenko's wife reported that her husband had an exacerbation of urolithiasis after being tortured. He is not provided with the necessary medical care in the pre-trial detention center, so he was taken to a civilian hospital by ambulance.
  • On July 6, the occupation court in Crimea extended the arrest of Vladislav Yesipenko until December 18. On the same day, an action in support of the journalist took place on Independence Square in Kyiv.
  • Yesipenko's defense intends to minimize the terms of his illegal imprisonment.
  • Amnesty International Ukraine has called for a petition to release Vladislav Yesipenko.
