Zelensky imposed new sanctions on a number of Russians and Russian companies

President Vladimir Zelensky has signed decrees imposing new sanctions on a number of Russian individuals and companies. There are also foreigners and their companies.

This was reported on the website of the President's Office.

In one of the lists, sanctions are imposed against 23 Russian companies and one Austrian - the architectural firm Coop Himmelb (l) au. Six employees of the bureau, including the founder Wolf Prix, were also sanctioned. Austrian architects have designed an opera and ballet theater in occupied Sevastopol.

Two more lists are sanctions against individuals. In one list are exclusively Russian judges, in the other - various "officials", "law enforcement officers" and "judges" from the occupied Crimea. Well-known Russian designer and blogger Artemy Lebedev also came under sanctions.

In addition, Zelensky imposed sanctions against the Cypriot company BISCONE LIMITED. It is a minority shareholder of Turboatom - it owns 5.9% of the shares. In the fall of 2021, the government initiated sanctions against the company because it is owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov, who has been under Ukrainian sanctions since 2016.

What is known

  • In early December, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi gave effect to the next decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of November 10, 2021. The document extends from 3 to 10 years the previously imposed sanctions against a number of people who participated in the organization of Russian elections in the occupied Crimea.
