Ukraine will challenge the credentials of the Russian delegation to the PACE

The Ukrainian delegation, together with colleagues from the Baltic + group, plans to challenge the credentials of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) during next week's winter session in Strasbourg.

This was announced by a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE Oleksiy Honcharenko on Facebook.

"Ukraine's delegation to the PACE plans to challenge the authority of the Russian delegation! We will start the procedure on Monday and, most likely, there will be a vote on Wednesday or Thursday", - Goncharenko said.

Yevhenia Kravchuk, another representative of Ukraine to the PACE, noted that the delegation also plans to challenge the authority of State Duma deputy Petro Tolstoy as PACE Vice President.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation nominates Maria Mezentseva, the head of the Verkhovna Rada delegation to the PACE, as an alternative candidate for the PACE presidency.

What is known

  • The PACE session will take place on January 24-28 in a hybrid format, and the physical presence of delegates will be limited.
