The Q-hub NGO, with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, will collect an array of digital parallel texts to preserve the Crimean Tatar language.

The implementation of such a project will increase the presence of the Crimean Tatar language on educational and communication platforms. Snaver Seitkhaliev, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, told Public Crimea about this.

"This array of parallel texts is crucial for the preservation and development of the endangered language of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. It will give impetus to the creation of explanatory, new bilingual and translation e-dictionaries and thus the emergence of the Crimean Tatar language in online translators, which in turn will lead to more active development and promotion of this language both in Ukraine and internationally", - Seithalilev said.

Creating an array of parallel texts in the Crimean Tatar language involves:

  • scanning of books in the Crimean Tatar language, including rare copies and rare editions;
  • conducting editorial work to correct errors after scanning;
  • development and launch of a program for translation synchronization;
  • creation of a database on the Github online platform for processing and storing digital versions of all text materials;
  • creation of an online library with books in the Crimean Tatar language with translations in parallel in Ukrainian, Russian and English on the basis of the web platform Devlet Saray.

It is noted that the creation of a digital array of parallel texts for the preservation of the Crimean Tatar language is carried out in the context of the Concept of Crimean Tatar language development and to ensure comprehensive development and functioning along with the state language of the indigenous people of Ukraine.
