A Russian military court in Rostov-on-Don has extended the arrest of political prisoner Yashar Shikhametov for three months, until April 26, 2022.

This was reported by "Crimean Solidarity".

"The Southern District Military Court has extended the pre-trial detention of Crimean Tatar Yashar Shikhametov for another three months", - was informed in the statement.

It is noted that in December 2021 the hearing on Shikhametov was postponed twice due to his failure to be brought to court due to lack of escorts, so the political prisoner's detention ended more than a month ago.

Shikhametov was outraged by the prosecutor's request to extend the measure of restraint for another three months.

Shikhametov pounded his fists on the walls and bench in the "aquarium", thus expressing reluctance to listen to the public prosecutor. With severe shortness of breath and a trembling voice, the defendant repeated that he was not guilty of anything and therefore did not want to listen to the accusatory evidence of a government official: "I do not want to deal with you!" - quotes the political prisoner "Crimean Solidarity".

The accused appealed to the court with two motions to remove the judicial board and the prosecutor, but was denied.
