Nadzhie Aji-Mamutova said that her husband, political prisoner Muslim Aliyev, who was sent to a Russian colony in Salavat after his trial, is in a pre-trial detention center and will stay there until January 30.

It is noted that on January 1, the political prisoner, sentenced to 19 years, contacted his wife Najiye from the prison connection "Zonatelecom" and said that he was again in the remand prison, where he was placed on December 23. After that, he was repeatedly extended, first for 7 days, and then for another 10. On January 16, the man said that his arrest was extended for 2 weeks until January 30.

"He conveyed congratulations to all and thanked for the support and letters from the people, which he receives regularly", - his wife said.

What is known

  • Political prisoner Muslim Aliyev was transferred to a Russian penal colony in Bashkortostan in September 2020 after the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 19 years in prison and upheld his sentence.
  • On February 11, 2016, armed security forces broke into the Aliyevs' house and conducted a search, after which the head of the family, Muslim Aliyev, was arrested. The FSB accused him of involvement in the activities of the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir. The organization has been banned in Russia since 2003, but in Ukraine it operated legally, engaging in public educational activities.
