Political prisoner Rustem Emiruseinov was transferred to one of the facilities of the Federal Penal Service of Russia in the Saratov region. They sentenced him to 17 years in a maximum-security prison for alleged links to the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Rustem Emiruseinov’s wife told Crimean Solidarity about this.

Political prisoners of the Krasnogvardeysky group in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case were taken out of Novocherkassk SIZO-3 a month ago.

“I contacted the office of SIZO-3 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region, where my husband Rustem Emiruseinov was detained for a year. I was forced to call the SIZO because there had been no information about my husband for more than a month”, - Aliye Emiruseinova commented.

After a phone call, the family of the political prisoner learned that on December 9, 2021, the administration of SIZO-3 sent a letter to Rustem Emiruseinov's home address about the departure of the Crimean Tatar from Novocherkassk, but relatives have not yet received a message with the exact address of arrival.

"Before that, I sent a request for my husband's whereabouts and, as I was told, I would receive an answer to this request soon", - Aliye added.

Following the conviction of the Southern District Military Court on November 3, 2020, the participants in the case of the Krasnogvardeysky group were detained in SIZO-3 Novocherkassk. They spent about a year there - until December 2021.

A month after the announcement of the decision of the Court of Appeal, Rustem Emiruseinov's wife tried to contact the staff of the facility. In SIZO-3 in Novocherkassk, the wife of the political prisoner was told that Rustem Emiruseinov had been sent to another penitentiary in the Saratov region.

What is known

  • Participants in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir case" of the Krasnogvardeysky group were detained on February 14, 2019, in occupied Crimea. On November 3, 2020, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Rustem Emiruseinov to 17 years in prison, Eskender Abdulganiev to 12 years, and Arsen Abkhairov to 13 years.
  • All of them were accused of belonging to the political Islamic party Hizb ut Tahrir, banned in Russia. By a decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in 2003, it was included in the list of terrorist organizations. In Ukraine and other countries of the world, the organization operates without restrictions.
  • The defence and the defendants call the trial fabricated. The accusation is motivated by listening materials, books found on the defendants in the case, and testimonies of hidden witnesses. On November 1, 2021, the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasis passed a verdict from the Southern District Military Court. Crimean Tatars Arsen Abkhairov, Rustem Emiruseinov and Eskender Abdulganiev were sent to Russian colonies for 12 to 17 years.
