The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in an official statement, has condemned the violence in several Kazakhstani cities, which led to numerous casualties. Separately, the Foreign Ministry commented on the introduction of the CSTO troops into Kazakhstan.

This is stated in a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

"We condemn the violence that has erupted in several Kazakh cities and resulted in numerous casualties. We express our condolences on the death of Kazakhs, with whom Ukrainians have long-standing ties of friendship and mutual respect", - the statement said.

The Ministry stressed the importance of taking maximum measures to de-escalate the situation and avoid further violence, guarantee respect for human rights, and ensure the restoration of critical infrastructure and communication systems.

The Foreign Ministry also took into account the introduction of foreign military forces with the dominance of the Russian contingent at the invitation of local authorities.

"Foreign troops must respect the independence, sovereignty and national legislation of Kazakhstan and international law, and their stay must not go beyond the declared limited period of time", - the statement said.

The Ministry stated that it would continue to protect the interests of Ukrainians in Kazakhstan, in particular, assist them in returning to their homeland, and recommended that they stay in places of temporary residence and keep in touch with the Ukrainian embassy, ​​which will inform them about possible ways to leave the country.

  • Clashes broke out between protesters and police in the center of Almaty, Kazakhstan, on the morning of January 5.
