The build-up of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine and in the illegally occupied Crimea is unacceptable.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Trass following a video conference with the participation of NATO Foreign Ministers, according to "European Truth".

"There is no excuse for an aggressive and unprovoked position on Ukraine. We, together with our NATO allies, call on Russia to stop its malicious activities and join the international agreements it has voluntarily signed", - was informed in the statement.

Trass also said that the Russian government needs to reduce tensions, use diplomatic channels and adhere to its commitments to ensure the transparency of military activities.

"We will defend democracy in Eastern Europe and around the world. Our support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering. We clearly understand that any Russian invasion would be a major strategic mistake that will have to pay dearly", - she said.
