What is known

  • The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol has opened proceedings on the destruction of the Foros Landscape Park in the occupied Crimea. The actions of the occupying power in Crimea by Ukrainian prosecutors were qualified as violations of the laws and customs of war (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
  • Construction work on the park began in autumn 2020. In early March, locals held a series of meetings with the Crimean occupation authorities demanding the abolition of construction. Residents of Foros also wrote an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking to save the park, but to no avail.
