US Senators Predict Fast Sanctions Against Nord Stream 2

The US Senate will vote on a bill on sanctions against Russia's Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline on January 14. The bill was proposed by Republican Senator Ted Cruz.

This was reported by Politico, citing a source.

It is noted that the adoption of the bill, which provides for restrictions on the pipeline, requires 60 out of 100 votes of senators. The vote on the document will take place on January 14.

"We will win this vote by an overwhelming majority", - a senior aide said.

After approval by the Senate, the bill will go to the House of Representatives, and later - for signature by the President. However, if the head of state refuses to impose sanctions, Congress will be able to do so, - was informed in the document.
