In the north-western part of the Black Sea, the landing ship "Yuriy Olefirenko" of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine together with the frigate of the Navy of the French Republic Auvergne conducted PASSEX training.

The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote about it on Facebook.

The goal of the exercises is to maintain security in the Black Sea region, to improve the skills and interoperability of the crews of Ukrainian and French ships following the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In addition to surface combat units from the French side, an NH-90 naval combat helicopter was involved in the exercises.

During the practice of tactical manoeuvring elements, the personnel of the ships conducted several joint exercises, using the international signal system, coverage of the maritime situation in areas of intensive civil navigation, communication training, and more.

The main focus was on improving the interoperability and coherence of the crews," the statement said.

Communication between the ship's crews was carried out only in English, according to the international signalling system Message Transfer Part (MTP).
