At the initiative of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, the government has significantly simplified the process of crossing the checkpoints in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, Crimea and Sevastopol.

From now on, the requirement to install the mobile application of the electronic service "Diia" when crossing the administrative border and self-isolation due to the coronavirus has been cancelled.

She made this statement during a press conference on facilitating the crossing of the checkpoints in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and the administrative border with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the press room of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

"The requirement to install the"Diia" app made life very difficult for our people who are forced to stay under the occupation. Moreover, this attitude officially equated them with foreigners, which, in my opinion, is unacceptable, because the line of demarcation is not a state border. This was an unnecessary barrier in the process of full-fledged reintegration of our citizens in modern Ukrainian society. And we removed this obstacle", - Vereshchuk said.

To simplify the procedure, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a special government decree and amended several regulations governing entry into and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, movement of goods to and from these territories, quarantine, and restrictive anti-epidemic measures to prevent the territory of Ukraine of acute respiratory disease COVID-19. This condition has been in force since the beginning of 2021.

According to the Minister, the analysis showed that only 0.28% of all free tests of citizens from the temporarily occupied territories for coronavirus, conducted at the checkpoints, had a positive result.

This indicates the inexpediency of the proposed restrictions, both logistically and morally, which significantly complicate the process of crossing the checkpoints.

There were complaints and suggestions from Ukrainians living in Crimea, regarding the restoration of fair treatment of them, in terms of their right to move freely within the territory of the state.
