What is known

  • The National Security and Defense Council has discovered a new type of DDOS attacks that can disconnect almost the entire country from the Internet. In June 2020, one of the new types of DDOS attacks became the largest in history, it caused the disconnection of 15% of the world's Internet and a number of backbone providers for 30 minutes. The source of this type of attack is a network of compromised "smart home" (IoT) devices. In most cases, access to these devices was carried out by cracking standard passwords. The attackers gained access to remote control and then attacked.
