On the night of December 17, the UN General Assembly approved an updated and strengthened sixth resolution "The situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine." 25 countries voted against and another 85 abstained.

According to the representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia, the document was adopted by 65 votes in favor. Among the 25 countries that voted against are Russia, Belarus, China, Armenia, Serbia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and a number of countries in Africa and Latin America.

According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, this resolution is the 11th in the context of the international response to the illegal occupation of Crimea.

"This year we managed to include in the text Russia's responsibility for respecting the rights of the Crimean Tatars as the indigenous people of Crimea, as well as the demand to cancel the sentences handed down in absentia against the leaders of the Crimean Tatar people and Crimean Tatars", - Kuleba said.
