Alexander Lukashenko's rival in the presidential elections in Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, answered the question of whose Crimea is on the second attempt.
She said this in an interview with Euroradio.
Tikhanovskaya said that she, as a woman, is against the war and worries that Ukraine has been dragged into such a confrontation.
“Legally, Crimea is Ukrainian, but in fact it is Russian”, -Tikhanovska said and asked not to torment her with these questions anymore.
Earlier, in an interview with Meduza, Tykhanovskaya avoided this question.
“I understand that the issue of Crimea is splitting society. And I would not like to push anyone away with careless words”, - she said then.
What is known
- Svetlana Tikhanovska is the wife of a political prisoner and blogger Sergey Tikhanovsky. On July 19, she announced that she had taken the children from Belarus to the European Union. According to her, she is participating in the election campaign, replacing her arrested husband.
- The opposition forces of the country have united around Tikhanovskaya. In support of the candidate, thousands of citizens across Belarus came to rallies.
- The presidential elections in Belarus are scheduled for August 9. Lukashenko has been in this post since 1994.
