By adopting a UN GA resolution on the militarization of Crimea, the world community has once again expressed its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.

This is stated in a statement by the US delegation to the UN, released by the General Assembly after the vote on the document.

"For almost eight years since the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, Russia has continued to pose a threat to our common security", - was informed in the statement.

According to its authors, the United States is particularly concerned about Russia's plans to "destabilize Ukraine from within, as well as large-scale military operations". It also points to Russia's intensification of its disinformation campaign against Ukraine.

"The United States never recognizes the annexation of Ukrainian territory by Russia. Crimea is Ukraine", - was informed in the statement.

In turn, the EU and other European countries, including Albania, Moldova and Georgia, have said they never recognize the illegal annexation of the ARC and Sevastopol. In its statement, the European Union refers to the UN Charter, international documents, the Crimean Platform and the Budapest Memorandum, in which nuclear states guaranteed Ukraine's security.

This points to numerous violations of international law by Russia, including the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait, which restricts navigation in the region. It is noted that the occupation authorities are preventing Crimean residents from retaining Ukrainian citizenship.

A separate statement was issued by eight northern European countries - Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden. They condemn Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the illegal annexation of Crimea. They also welcome the creation of an international Crimean platform "with the aim of peacefully ending the temporary occupation and establishing Ukraine's control over Crimea in accordance with international law".
