On the Human Rights Day, the Presidium of the Crimean Tatar People's Majlis called on all international organizations, governments and parliaments to take tough measures of economic, political and diplomatic pressure on Russia to immediately liberate the occupied territories of Ukraine - Crimea and some Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

This is stated in a statement by the Presidium of the Majlis in connection with the 73rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the text of which was published on his Facebook page on Friday by the Speaker of the Majlis Refat Chubarov.

"The Presidium of the Crimean Tatar People's Majlis calls on the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, leaders of political parties, public and religious organizations, and all citizens of Ukraine to unite to liberate Russian-occupied territories, which is the only way to ensure human rights throughout Ukraine to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights", - was informed in the document.

The statement also said that during the mass arrests and detentions of Crimean Tatars in September-December this year, more than 100 people were abducted, including mothers with many children, minors and lawyers.

The number of people prosecuted in politically motivated cases in the occupied Crimea is currently 234, of whom 121 are illegally imprisoned.

In turn, the Facebook page of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol states that in the last few months the eighth case of unjustified mass detentions of Crimean Tatars was recorded, during which 19 to 41 people were detained simultaneously. In addition, lawyers representing the interests of illegally detained persons are under constant pressure.

The Russian Federation continues to neglect human rights, persecuting pro-Ukrainians, professing other religions, and not supporting the occupation. "Numerous illegal violations of the inviolability of housing during searches of Ukrainian citizens in Crimea. For example, this year the occupation police unjustifiably broke into 46 homes", - the head of the Crimean prosecutor's office Igor Ponochovny said.

According to him, all this is a manifestation of the policy of the occupying state aimed at persecuting and intimidating the citizens of Ukraine in Crimea. "Its ultimate goal is to change the demographic composition of the peninsula's population, ie to oust those who disagree with the occupation regime from the peninsula and settle Russian citizens in their place", - Ponochovny stressed.

The prosecutor's office assured that they record every fact of human rights violations on the occupied peninsula in the relevant criminal proceedings to implement the principle of inevitability of punishment of perpetrators using both national and international mechanisms.
