On December 8, the ambassadors of the European Union agreed on sanctions against mercenaries of the Russian private military company Wagner.

This was announced by the European editor of Radio Liberty Ricard Juzwiak on Twitter.

EU ambassadors today gave the "green light" to sanctions against Wagner's APC. In addition, according to the decision, three people associated with the group will be included in the sanctions list of human rights violators, one person - in the list of Libya, three - in the list of Ukraine and two individuals and three legal entities - in the list of Syria. Everyone is from Russia", - he wrote.

Earlier it was reported that the sanctions will be aimed at:

  • former officer of the Russian special forces, head of the group Dmitry Utkin;
  • one of the contractors of the APC in Syria, Stanislav Dychko;
  • involved in the actions of the APC in the Central African Republic Valery Zakharov.

This is a global regime of sanctions for human rights violations, which the EU introduced last year.
