Kazakhstan did not recognize occupied Crimea as a Russian territory because then it would have to recognize some self-proclaimed states.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated this in the film "Qazaq: History of the Golden Man" by Oliver Stone, based on his interview with the American director.

"We did not recognize Crimea as Russian, because in that case, we would have to recognize Ossetia, Abkhazia, Kosovo. Kosovo also asks us to recognize them", - Nazarbayev explained.

In one of the episodes, Nazarbayev stressed that in 2014 Kazakhstan did not support the Ukrainian side. "All this happened due to the "revolution" that took place in Kyiv," he explained. He considers the pseudo-referendum held in 2014 on the territory of Crimea - legal.

"There was a referendum", - he said.

Nazarbayev stressed that he loves Ukraine and worries about the events that are happening there.
