The radical Islamic movement Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan, has recognized occupied Crimea as "Russian territory". The Taliban continues to be a banned organization in Russia.

It was stated by a representative of the group Zabiullah Mujahid to "Octagon Media".

According to him, the Taliban seeks to have good diplomatic contacts with the Russian Federation. Mujahid noted that the Taliban "are on the side of people living in Crimea".

"If people want to live in Russia, we agree with them", - the Taliban spokesman said.

As the Mujahid added, the Taliban "wants stability in the region and does not want Russia to go to war with any country".

"As for Crimea, I want to say that this is a matter for Ukraine and Moscow. We hope that this problem will be solved soon. God forbid that a war breaks out in the region and other countries use it for their own ends", - he said.
