The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to exclude two former deputies of the 6th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea from the sanctions list.

The relevant decision was made by the government on November 24.

The decision was presented by the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleg Nemchinov. According to him, Serhiy Zaits and Serhiy Verhel were excluded from the sanctions list, which came into force on November 15, 2021.

The convocation in which they worked supported the holding of a so-called "referendum" in Crimea during the Russian occupation of the peninsula in 2014.

According to the explanatory note, the decision is aimed at implementing the rulings of the Sixth Court of Appeal of Kyiv of June 2021. Currently, both cases are being heard in cassation.

The lifting of sanctions should therefore be considered by the National Security and Defense Council.
