The occupying Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced 61-year-old Ukrainian Konstantin Shiring to 12 years in a maximum security prison. He was accused of "espionage".

This was reported by the Crimean Human Rights Group.

"The meeting was held behind closed doors, the information on its results was announced by lawyer Dmytro Dinze. The defense attorney also said that earlier in the debate, the prosecutor asked for 14 years in prison, and the defense - to acquit Konstantin Shiring. Shearing himself also asked to acquit him, saying that "he was slandered and blamed", - human rights activists said.

According to the lawyer, the defense intends to appeal this sentence.
