A member of the illegal armed group "Self-Defense of Crimea" was sentenced to three years of probation.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the ARC.

"The perpetrator was found in the Kherson region and on August 28, 2021 he was notified of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in the activities of an armed group not provided by law)", - was informed in the statement.

It is noted that the pre-trial investigation established that the said citizen of Ukraine in February 2014 joined the illegal armed group "Self-Defense of Crimea". Together with other "self-defense" he took an active part in the events of February 26, 2014 under the building of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

For his participation in the functioning of the said NPF, the convict received a monetary reward, as well as was awarded a medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "For the return of the Crimea."

"The convict was sentenced to 5 years in prison, however, the court took into account the unconditional admission of guilt, sincere repentance, active assistance in solving the crime, exposing it to others, therefore, the court decided to release him from serving his sentence. trial, probationary period of 3 years", - was summed up in the message.
