During the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna, Yevhen Tsymbalyuk, called on the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to pay attention to the issue of freedom of movement across the administrative border with the occupied peninsula.

Ukrinform reported about it.

"Under the guise of travel restrictions due to COVID-19, the Russian occupation administration has severely restricted travel for Ukrainian citizens to and from Crimea. We expect the Mission to continue working on its past thematic report on freedom of movement across the administrative border with Crimea, which was issued in June 2015", - Tsymbalyuk said.

He also noted that women make up 60% of the 1.5 million Ukrainian citizens who fled from the Russian occupation of Crimea and ORDLO.

What is known

  • In September, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted amendments to the resolution establishing new quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The changes also affected the crossing of the administrative border of Crimea with the mainland of Ukraine.
  • Earlier, citizens of Ukraine with a vaccination certificate could easily cross the administrative border with occupied Crimea. In the absence of a certificate, they had to install the "Diia" application and go for self-isolation in the absence of a negative PCR test performed during this time
