The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declares illegal the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in 2021 and de-legitimizes the State Duma of Russia, elected with the involvement of citizens of Ukraine in the Ukrainian occupied territories.

322 people's deputies supported the relevant resolution at the meeting on the 22nd of September.

The statement of the Council declared that the involvement of Ukrainian citizens from the territories occupied by Russia is illegal and unfounded, and the organization of elections in Crimea and ORDLO is legally insignificant.

"In the statement, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declares such elections illegal and the State Duma of the Russian Federation illegitimate and appeals to the international community to assess the rigged elections and the facts of illegal voting", - the committee concluded.

Also, Ukraine appeals to the international community on the fact of the illegitimate elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine on September 17-19, 2021.

"It is emphasized that the occupying state violates international humanitarian law, including involving Ukrainian citizens with illegally issued passports of the Russian Federation, moving the occupying population to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, and uncontrolled crossing of the internationally recognized state border of Ukraine", - the statement said.

The Council also drew the world's attention to the fact that Russia, as a member of the OSCE participating States, had not provided adequate working conditions for the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which made it impossible to observe the election process following democratic standards.
