Russian citizen Alexander Franchetti was detained in Prague at the request of Ukraine to be prosecuted for committing a number of crimes against Ukraine, including participation in the Russian occupation of Crimea.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko declared it, this statement was reported by "Glavkom".

He noted that yesterday the Czech law enforcement agencies detained a Russian man at the Prague International Airport at the request of Ukraine.

"The detention was the result of coordinated actions of Ukrainian and Czech law enforcement agencies to bring Oleksandr Franchetti to justice for a number of crimes against our state, including participation in the Russian occupation of Crimea. The Ukrainian side is currently working to complete the necessary procedures to bring Oleksandr Franchetti to justice in Ukraine. Nikolenko emphasized.
