On Tuesday, July 14, the occupying Belogorsk district "court" of Crimea is to announce the verdict against the owner of the Taigan lion park, Oleg Zubkov, in the case of the bitten Russian tourist Olga Solomina.

The meeting is scheduled for noon.

Zubkov's blog page is broadcast live from under the court building, where several dozen people have gathered.

The investigation into this case has been going on for two years.

What is known

  • In July 2018, it was reported that a lion had bitten a tourist Olga Solomina in the Taigan safari park. According to the woman, at the time of the predator's attack, the director of "Taigan" Oleg Zubkov was nearby, but "could not immediately calm down his animals."
  • On February 3, the Russian-controlled Belogorsk District Court arrested Crimean businessman Oleg Zubkov during a hearing in the case of Olga Solomina, the tourist bitten in Taigan Park.
  • On February 11, the Russian-controlled Supreme Court of Crimea ruled to change the measure of restraint against Zubkov, who spent a week in the Simferopol pre-trial detention center, to a "ban on certain actions": for example,  from 10 pm to 6 am he is forbidden to leave the house, as well as to communicate with persons involved in the criminal case. Zubkov was released from custody in the courtroom. Later, the Russian bailiff department in the Belogorsky district allowed Zubkov to travel outside Russia and occupied Crimea.
  • On June 19, the court adjourned the hearing in the case of the bitten tourist. The Russian prosecutor requested a three-year suspended sentence and a fine of 500,000 rubles for Oleg Zubkov. Zubkov himself claims that Solomina was intoxicated and "pulled the lion by the mane", which is why he bit her.
