The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don extended the term of detention of Emil Ziadinov, a Crimean Tatar activist and children's coach from the village of Oktyabrskoye, until November 3, 2021, in a Russian pre-trial detention center.

Crimean Solidarity reported about it on July 27.

Ziyadinov was to be released on August 4, then the Military Court of Appeal reduced his arrest by one day. But at a July 27 court hearing, Russian prosecutor Dina Danielyan insisted that the defendant remain in custody because he was "charged with a particularly serious crime, could abscond because of the charges, continue to engage in criminal activity, destroy evidence and otherwise obstruct proceedings in the case".

According to the defender of Islam Velilyaev, the gravity of the crime is the only substantiation on the merits of the case, but there is no concrete confirmation of what the prosecutor claims. Any terrorist activity of the client is not blamed, but only participation in the Islamic political party "Hizb ut-Tahrir".

In addition, the lawyer said at the hearing that Ziyadinov has 4 minor children, has strong ties with the Crimea, through which the defendant is clearly unable to leave the occupied peninsula.

Velilyaev and Svitlana Boguslavska, a lawyer by appointment, asked the Crimean Tatar to change the measure of restraint to a written undertaking not to leave.

"My case is politically motivated, the order comes from the Russian government, so I give a 100% guarantee that the precautionary measure will not change me", - Emil Ziyadinov said.

Despite this, the court decided to extend his pre-trial detention until November 3, 2021. The defense intends to appeal this decision.
