Ukrainian political prisoner Inver Bekirov, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case and is currently being held in a penal colony in Russia, suffered a micro-stroke. The state of health of the 58-year-old Ukrainian is critical. Despite this, the prisoner is still being transferred to a remand prison for contrived violations of internal regulations.

This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova on her Telegram channel.

"Ukrainian political prisoner Inver Bekirov, who is being held at the PKU IK-2 UFSIN of Russia in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Salavat, suffered a microstroke. According to his lawyer, Inver himself sought help from the colony's medical unit, where he later fainted. Doctors diagnosed him ", - it is told in the message.

Denisova wrote that the stay in the pre-trial detention center, to which they want to transport the man, could end in the worst for Inver Bekirov.

"The actions of the penitentiary administration violate Article 22 of the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, approved by the UN Economic and Social Council and the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture", - she said.

The ombudswoman calls on her Russian counterpart, Tatiana Moskalkova, to immediately return Bekirov's rights, which were violated, in particular to provide him with the necessary medical care, namely to hospitalize him in a hospital, and to conduct a qualified examination and further treatment.

She also demands that the Prosecutor General of Bashkortostan, Volodymyr Vedernikov, provide a legal assessment of the crimes by the administration of the institution where the Ukrainian political prisoner is being held and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In addition, Denisova once again called on the international community to continue to put pressure on Russia for the immediate release of all Kremlin prisoners.
