The commander of the Armed Forces Nayev told how many Russian servicemen there are in  occupied Crimea

There are currently 32.5 thousand Russian servicemen in occupied Crimea.

This was announced by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Nayev on the air of the 1 + 1 TV channel.

Nayev confirmed the information voiced by the presenter about the number of Russian military and military equipment on the peninsula:

  • 200 armored vehicles,
  • 31 tanks,
  • 100 artillery systems,
  • 34 helicopters,
  • 63 aircraft,
  • 684 units of military equipment,
  • 32,500 Russian servicemen.

“The land group itself is 11.5 thousand people. We are talking about the entire composition of the temporarily occupied territory, which includes the Russian Navy, as well as forces and means of air defense. The ground group itself consists of two brigades and one battalion”, - Nayev said.

The commander of the Armed Forces reminded that Ukraine has intensified intelligence in the Crimean direction and added that there is no threat of an attack from occupied Crimea on the Kherson region now.

What is known

  • Ukraine has no data on preparations for a Russian attack from the south. However, all types of intelligence, from which information comes in daily, have been strengthened. This was stated by the commander of the Joint Forces operation Sergei Nayev.
  • The former commander of US forces in Europe, General Ben Hodges, has expressed concern over a possible Russian attack on the Kherson region to seize a dam that does not allow water into Crimea.
  • In 2020, the annual strategic command and staff exercises of the Russian Armed Forces "Caucasus 2020" will be held in the border areas with Ukraine and in occupied Crimea.
