Ukrainian biathletes Dmytro Pidruchny, Artem Tyshchenko, Serhiy Semenov and Artem Prima won gold medals for the relay race at the 2015 European Biathlon Championships due to the disqualification of Russian rivals.

The captain of the national men's biathlon team Dmytro Pidruchny told about it on his Instagram.

"A parcel came from the IBU. The 2015 European Championship Otepää. A well-deserved  gold medal,and all because the Russian Federation was disqualified", -  Podruchny said.

In 2015, the Ukrainians took second place in the Championship.  From the victory they were divided 14.2 seconds from the Russian team. However, due to the doping of the Russian biathlete Alexander Pechenkin, Russia was deprived of victory.

What is known

  • The Ukrainian biathlon team won a gold medal in the classic mixed relay at the 2020 European Championships in Raubichi, Belarus.
  • Alexander Pechonkin lost the title of two-time 2013 Universiade champion and 2015 European champion due to doping.
