French MP from the pro-presidential party "Forward, Republic!" Pierre Person said that France should accelerate the process of Ukraine's integration into NATO and the European Union.

He tweeted it on June 15 after a visit to eastern Ukraine.

The politician, accompanied by the Ukrainian military, visited the front line between the territories controlled by Ukraine and the territories occupied by pro-Russian forces.

"I wanted to reaffirm French support for Ukrainians. However, moral support is simply not enough. We cannot continue to turn a blind eye. We must accelerate the process of Ukraine's integration into NATO and the European Union. We see the will and actions of the Ukrainian side", - he said.

According to him, during the talks in the Ukrainian parliament, Person saw Ukraine's real efforts to ensure compliance with the legal, economic and social requirements of the European Union.

According to the politician, the fighting in Donbas "is by no means a civil war", - according to Kremlin propaganda.

"I saw striking differences on the ground between the intentions enshrined in the Minsk agreements, which provided for a ceasefire and reconciliation regime, and the reality of the hostilities (bombings and sniper attacks) experienced daily by the Ukrainian army and civilians on the front lines", - he said.

Person added that Russia "does not spare efforts and support for its propaganda influences" in the context of the situation in Ukraine. In particular, according to him, in France, the candidate from the far-right "National Union" to the Provence-Alpes and Côte d'Azur Regional Council, Thierry Mariani, or former Prime Minister Francois Fillon "do not even hide in their subordination to the regime of Vladimir Putin".

"Ukraine and France have been linked in the past since the time of Anne of Kyiv. Today, history compels us again. The international community should not and cannot stand idly by", - the deputy summed up.
