Ukraine invites the new Prime Minister of Israel to the Crimean Platform summit

During telephone talks with the new Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited him to Kyiv to participate in the inaugural Crimean Platform summit, which will take place on August 23, this year.

It was reported by the Office of the President on June 16.

"Volodymyr Zelensky invited Naftali Bennett to visit Ukraine to participate in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform in Kyiv and events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of our country's independence", - the statement said.

The President also hopes for further cooperation between Ukraine and Israel. The Free Trade Agreement between the two countries has now been launched, which will help increase trade and economic cooperation and investment cooperation.

What is known

  • In June, Israel's parliament approved a new government formed by Yamina party leaders Naftali Bennett and Ash Atid's Yair Lapid. Naftali Bennett became the new Prime Minister of Israel.
  • The Crimean platform will officially start operating at the summit in Kyiv on August 23, 2021. It is planned to adopt a document called the Crimean Charter, which will condemn Russia's policy towards occupied Crimea.
