After 7 years in prison, Ukrainian political prisoner Oleksiy Chirniy was released due to an illegal "court" verdict for allegedly plotting terrorist attacks in occupied Crimea.

The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova announced it on Telegram.

According to her, Chirniy was illegally detained in several strict regime colonies in Russia - in Magadan, Moscow, Rostov-on-Don.

On Friday, May 7, he was released from the strict regime colony N15 in Bataysk, Rostov Oblast.

"Under the supervision of the armed guards, he was transferred to the Russian-Ukrainian border for forced deportation from Russia, not allowing Oleksiy to communicate with his parents, who came to meet him from temporarily occupied Crimea", - the ombudswoman said.

She informed that now Chirniy has crossed the Ukrainian-Russian border and arrived at the Ukrainian checkpoint Milove of the Luhansk region.

Denisova confirmed to Suspilne Crimea that Oleksiy Chirniy was released. He is currently in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
