The political scientist believes that the influence of the resolution adopted by the European Parliament should not be exaggerated
In the case of Russian military aggression by Russia - the country will be disconnected from the international system of bank payments SWIFT. This is stated in the resolution of the European Union, which was adopted the day before.
"I would not exaggerate the impact of this document, despite the fact that it is 99.9 per cent true, identifies all the threats posed by Russia, especially the European Union, but also, of course, Ukraine and the Russian Federation itself. Therefore, it is definitely a positive document, it is certainly good that even in the seventh year of the war there is already a consensus on what Russia is and what should be done with it immediately", - Alexander Khara said in a comment to Suspilne Crimea.
He also noted that one of the points of this resolution calls for a reconsideration of the strategic approach to the Russian Federation.
What is known
- The European Parliament supported the resolution on the aggravation of Russia's relations with Ukraine and the Czech Republic. The document calls for blocking the construction of Russia's Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and disconnecting Russia from the international system for transferring interbank payments SWIFT.
- Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed that Ukraine had called for the signals set out in the EP resolution to show Russia the possible price for a new wave of aggression.
