The main directions of the Strategy for the de-occupation of Crimea revealed

One of the experts who participated in the development of the draft "Strategy for the de-occupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol" Alexander Liev spoke about the Priority Areas Strategy block. Among the directions is the development of the Crimean platform.

There are eight such directions:

  1. Protection of human rights and freedoms in Crimea and Russia, the involvement of international human rights organizations;
  2. Legal protection of property illegally seized during the occupation;
  3. Economic policy: Ukraine will initiate new sanctions against those operating in the occupied territories;
  4. Social, humanitarian, and cultural policy: providing Crimeans with access to educational institutions on the mainland of Ukraine, as well as the development of the culture of the Crimean Tatar and other indigenous peoples;
  5. Crimean environmental problems: constant monitoring of problematic situations with the involvement of international organizations;
  6. Creating a national broadcasting strategy on the peninsula, which includes providing media support;
  7. International cooperation: development of the Crimean platform;
  8. Security policy: Ukraine reserves the right to exercise all possibilities provided by international law and national law to protect the rights and freedoms of people in Crimea.

What is known

  • On March 11, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine approved the draft “Strategy for de-occupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol”.
  • On August 23, 2021, the Crimean platform for the de-occupation of Crimea will be held in Kyiv. Ukraine invites the entire international community. Most countries have already supported the Ukrainian initiative on Crimea.
