Ukrainian law enforcement officers sent to court an indictment against a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea of ​​the VI convocation under Part 1 of Art. 111 (treason) and Part 3 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

"The investigation established that in 2014 the accused together with other deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea betrayed the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and voted for a number of resolutions to legitimize the actions of the Russian Federation to occupy the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. composition of the Russian Federation as a subject of the federation", - informed in a statement.

As it is noted, on March 6, 2014 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (VR ARK) of the VI convocation voted for the illegal resolution "About carrying out the all-Crimean referendum".

On 11 of March 2014, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of the ARC, an illegal resolution "On the Declaration of Independence of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol" was adopted.

These decisions together with other deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea tried to hide the occupation of the Crimean peninsula by the Russian Armed Forces and create the impression of the legitimacy of the peninsula's accession to Russia on the basis of the alleged free-will of Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea and Sevastopol.

"In total, out of 99 deputies who were members of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea at the time of the occupation of the peninsula, 87 were reported as suspects, and 69 indictments were sent to court", - the prosecutor's office said.

The accused faces imprisonment for a term of 7 to 15 years.
