The Czech Republic presented Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Dzhemilev with a medal "For Merits in Diplomacy".

This was reported by the Czech Foreign Ministry on Twitter.

"On behalf of Minister Tomasz Petrszycek, Ambassador to Ukraine Radek Matula presented the Medal of Merit in Diplomacy to Crimean Tatar leader and tireless dissident Mustafa Dzhemilev, a lifelong human rights activist who has been persecuted by the Soviet regime for many years", - was informed by the ministry.

What is known

  • The leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, won the Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petrsicek's Medal of Merit in Diplomacy. He received the award for "significant lifelong contribution to the protection of human rights".
  • In November 2019, Dzhemilev was awarded the Freedom Prize by the Party of European Conservatives and Reformists in Kyiv.
