Oleksiy Goncharenko, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, explained why PACE did not support the debate on occupied Crimea on human rights violations. According to him, two other topics were supported instead, one of which was the situation with Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who is under arrest in Moscow.

Goncharenko reported about it to Crimea. Realities on January 28.

“On Monday, the Ukrainian delegation initiated consideration of the situation in Crimea as part of an urgent debate. But only two topics can be considered in such a session, and the Ukrainian issue did not get enough votes. The majority voted for Aleksei Navalny’s case and big data issue - the influence of digital companies on human rights and the rule of law. It is not good for us, but it is a fact", - he said.

According to Goncharenko, Ukraine will continue to raise the issue of Crimea in the debates.
