A native of the Ternopil region is involved in the occupation of Crimea - SBU
Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has revealed the facts of illegal activities of a native of the Ternopil region, a former Ukrainian official of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, involved in treason - promoting the occupation of the peninsula. Investigators are currently documenting all the circumstances of the defendant's illegal activities to further prosecute him.
The USBU in the Ternopil region reported this on Facebook.
The Ternopil resident remained in Crimea after the occupation and joined the military units of the Russian Federation.
Later, in 2018, he got a job in the administration of one of the cities of the peninsula, where he was appointed head of the local self-government body.
The man was directly involved in organizing and conducting elections to the local government of the peninsula.
According to the SBU counterintelligence, security investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation under Art. 111 (treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
What is known
- On November 10, the SBU detained the occupying head of the Transport Department of the Republic of Crimea at the Kalanchak checkpoint, who was involved in the persecution of Ukrainian citizens, in occupied Crimea.
