"Shameful aiding to the occupiers": Austrian company designing the Sevastopol Opera House will be banned from entering Ukraine

The management of the Austrian architectural bureau Coop Himmelblau will be banned from entering Ukraine "for aiding the occupiers in committing an international crime" for designing an opera building in Sevastopol.

The Special Representative for Policy Sanctions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Makeev announced this in a comment to LB.ua.

"The leadership of this Austrian company has decided to step on thin ice. They will be banned from entering Ukraine, and the international reputation of this company will suffer serious losses", - said Makeev.

What is known

  • The ARC prosecutor's office has begun investigating the illegal entry of Austrian architects into occupied Crimea.
  • Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria Oleksandr Shcherbak addressed the head of the architectural bureau Wolf Prix with a request not to ruin his reputation and change his mind to participate in the construction of the opera, but he refused. The Ukrainian government is already considering imposing sanctions on architects.
